Angela Dawn Parker
Founder & Director of Operations
In 1985 when I was seven years-old, I started working with horses. Currently studying natural horsemanship, I am learning to work with neglected horses and teaching them to trust again. I have a Master of Science degree from Concordia University, Montreal (2016) and I have worked in television and magazine media for ten years. My animal geography research examined human/animal relationships, particularly within sanctuaries.
While completing my masters, I was a Graduate Student Officer for the Animal Geography Specialty Group of the Association of American Geographers. In 2020, I was elected to the board as a General Board Member. In 2001 I received the Loyalist College Broadcast Advisory Award for Best Director in the Broadcasting Television Program. In 2003, I became the first female editor of a motorcycle magazine in North America.
I have lived in over 30 places, travelled seven countries and worn many hats. I was a television producer, video editor, magazine editor, columnist, grounds keeper, wildlife educator, stable hand, conservation technician, and office assistant. Currently, I am the banquet supervisor for the NAV Centre in Cornwall, Ontario and Founder & Chief Tea Alchemist for A Cup of Kindness Tea Company. I am also an independent animal geography scholar and animal photographer.
It was during my time as an employee at the Vancouver Aquarium where I started to realize the emotions in animals, particularly dolphins, orcas and belugas. I worked closely with injured and abandoned baby seals at Vancouver’s Marine Mammal Rescue Rehabilitation Centre. The excitement I felt when the baby seals were released back into the ocean was overwhelming. Assisting animals rescued from abuse, neglect and abandonment is what I love to do. As a vegan, I enjoy promoting plant-based foods and a compassionate lifestyle. My activism extends out to the environment and the protection of the complex systems within ecology, which include both flora and fauna. I was a Project Assistant for Cornwall Carbon Reduction Initiative and have been a member of the South Glengarry Environmental Committee since 2009.
My volunteer work includes:
Dog walker - Humane Society (Belleville, 2002); Wildlife volunteer – Grouse Mountain Refuge for Endangered Wildlife (Vancouver, 1999); Vet Assistant - Marine Mammal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre (Vancouver, 1999); Animal Care – Ecomuseum (Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, 2011 - 2013)
Stewardship:
Site Coordinator, TD Tree Days (2014, 2015, 2016); Algonquin Park Cleanup (2013); Organized and developed the first-ever Eco-Fair in Glengarry in conjunction with South Glengarry’s annual Hazardous Waste Day (2011); TD Tree Day (tree planter) (2011); Great Canadian Cleanup (2011); Assisted with Chantal Brunet’s OSPCA Fundraisers (2009/2010)

As a classmate of Angie’s at Concordia University I started to volunteer with Roy and Cher in 2014 and joined the board of directors shortly after. I have a BSc in Environmental Science from Concordia and one in Computer Science and GIS from the University of Lethbridge. I am in my first year of my Master’s Degree at Lethbridge working on identifying palaeontology sites at Dinosaur Provincial Park. I do all of my work for Roy and Cher’s via correspondence through Skype or through Email. Through the years I have had the honour of calling all of these my family: 4 cats, 2 dogs, 2 turtles and 1 rabbit, unfortunately not all at the same time. Before my academic career brought me to Western Canada, I spent my time as a member of the Roxboro United Church Youth Group in Roxboro, QC raising money for various Montreal-area charities including the SPCA and Dans La Rue. When I’m not studying, I’m watching hockey somewhere in Southern Alberta between Brooks and Canmore including my new home team Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Ina Morris
Secretary
I was born and raised in Toronto. My ambition as a young person was to become a veterinarian. However, life dealt me a different set of cards.....no math/chemistry/physics ability. Over the years I have changed my career from a secretary, to a chef, to a secondary high school teacher. When I am retired from teaching, I will be opening a counselling service as I have just finished my master's degree in Psychological Counselling from the University of Ottawa. I am well known in Alexandria as the lady who has all the cats. I have cared for a feral colony of up to 12 cats. My oldest feral male will be 16 years old summer 2020. His brother died last summer at 15. I currently have three house cats, three dogs, two rats, and about five feral cats left in my colony. I can't be sure how many strays I feed, but I see them come and go. I hope to be able to make a difference for the unwanted and feral cats in this community.
